CHIMES AND TOWER BELLS

THE SENTENCES OF PRAISE Rev. Jan Kwiatkowski, M.S., M.F.T.

Minister: Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to another
People: Even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
Minister: After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude which no one could number stood before the throne and before the Lamb, and served him day and night in his temple. Who are these arrayed in white robes and from where did they come?
People: These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Minister: I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; he who believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever lives and believes in me, shall never die.
People: So, when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
ALL: Death is swallowed up in victory. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

*HYMN 502 Forward Through the Ages

*THE PRAYER OF PRAISE and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Rev. Barry W. Szymanski, J.D.

Eternal God, our dwelling place in all generations; we would renew in this hour all fair and noble memories, all high and holy traditions of the days that are no more. We bless you for all the true and righteous souls who have revealed you to us, and who in their generation witnessed a good confession for the welfare of the world, and whose memorial you have set on high and whose names you have made to shine as the stars forever. Almighty Father, the God not of the dead but of the living, we have joy together in all our loved ones who have faithfully lived and peacefully died, and whose truth and beauty are even now in our hearts. May we be assured that they who are absent from us have found a more perfect rest in you, and the crown of an unfading life. Take the veil from our hearts, and join us in one communion with all your saints on earth and in heaven, as we pray the prayer your Son taught us…

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF HUMILITY (unison)

Let your beauty be upon us, O Lord, transforming our lives from what we are to that which we ought to be, uniting us in a new love, a new grace of service and a new happiness of obedience. Make us to know that between us and you there is nothing but our own blindness of heart, since you are so near and we are often so far away. Make us one with all your seekers and finders, that at last we may be one with those who triumph over time and death by your grace. In His name. Amen.

THE INVITATION TO SUNDAY SCHOOL

THE PSALMODY Psalm 24 sung to Toulon

[Children go to Sunday School during the singing of the Psalm.]

Lord, all creation with Thy name resounds,
And all who dwell within earth’s ample bounds;
Ever above the seas have mountains stood,
Planted by Thy design upon the flood.
Who shall to Zion’s sacred heights ascend?
Within God’s house, whom shall the Lord defend?
The true, the meek, the righteous and the pure
Shall in God’s courts of blessing long endure.
Lift high your heads, O gates, before the Lord!
Unfold to greet our God with one accord!
Break free the bonds which bind you to your walls!
Welcome the mighty God, the Lord of all!
Lift up your heads, O ancient doors, and give
Passage unbarred to God, in whom we live;
Who is this God, who merits such delight?
The Lord Almighty, crowned in glory bright!

THE REFLECTION “Called Forth to Love” Dr. Peay

THE ANTHEM Near to the Heart of God Manuel

THE CONFESSION OF FAITH

Minister: In the Master’s name let us make our Confession of Faith.

ALL: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23, KJV

THE PRAYERS OF PETITION AND INTERCESSION

Minister: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Minister: Let us pray.
[Please respond ‘AMEN’ to each prayer.]

SILENT REMEMBRANCE AND THE MEMORIAL PRAYER

THE OFFERTORY

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

The Invitation to the Lord's Table

The Preface and 'Holy Holy'

Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord our God.
Minister: Let us give thanks unto the Lord our God.
People: It is right and proper to give God thanks and praise.
Minister: It is very right and holy duty that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto you, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God and we praise thee for Jesus Christ our Lord, who in the blessedness of thy saints hath given us a glorious pledge of the hope of our calling; that, being compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, we may run with patience the race that is set before us, and with them receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we glorify and praise your glorious name; evermore praising you and saying:
ALL: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts; Heaven and earth are full of your glory; Glory be to you, O Lord, most high. Amen.

Prayer of Consecration or Eucharistic Prayer

The Words of Institution

Giving of the Bread

Minister: The Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: do this in remembrance of me.
Ministering to you in his name, I give you this bread.

Giving of the Cup

Minister: After supper he took the cup and again gave God thanks and praise and said, This is the cup of the new testament in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes again in glory.
Ministering to you in his name, I give you this cup.

The Communion

THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING (unison)

We give thanks to you, almighty God, that you have refreshed us with this memorial of your love, and have granted to us the presence of your Son, even Jesus Christ our Lord; and we ask you to strengthen our faith in you and to increase our love toward one another; through him who is our redeemer. Amen.
