THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Barry W. Szymanski, J.D.
Minister: Sovereign God, your name rises above all others.
People: Your glory permeates the universe for all to see.
Minister: All life has come from the gift of your creative touch.
People: And you have fashioned us as caretakers of your creation.
Minister: Blessed be God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
People: And blessed be his kingdom, now and for ever. Amen.
*HYMN 22 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever and taught us to pray, saying:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

THE PSALMODY Psalm 26 sung to Germany (Hymn 313)
Be Thou my judge, O Lord, my God, I flee from empty boasts of pride,
For I have walked among the just; And shun the dismal haunts of woe;
With confidence, I shall not fall, Their evil threats, my path would spurn;
For always Thou hast been my trust. Thy truth, my light, where’er I go.
Test me, O Lord, before Thy sight; O God, I love Thy holy house,
The secrets of my heart reveal; Where justice clothed in love resides;
And for the wrongs which mar my cause, The lure of earth cannot corrupt
To Thy great mercy, I appeal. The soul which in Thy grace abides.

*THE DOXOLOGY (Hymn 563)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;

THE CONFESSION OF SIN and ASSURANCE OF PARDON
[The Minister says:]
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
[Silence may be kept.]
Minister and People:
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
[The Minister assures us of God’s pardon.]
THE GREAT THANKSGIVING PRAYER
Minister: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them to the Lord.
Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
[The Minister continues the prayer and after we hear “and glorify your Name, as we say,” we all say:]
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
[The Ministers continue the Great Thanksgiving.]
THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION OF ALL
[All believers are welcome to the Lord’s Table. It is our custom to hold the bread and to receive together, to remind us of our unity in the Body of Christ. We receive the cup as it comes to us as a reminder of our personal relationship with the Lord.]
THE PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION (unison)
Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
