CHIMES AND TOWER BELLS

THE CALL TO WORSHIP Daniel Miles

Leader: We are no longer children; we are not yet adults.
Group: We are becoming. God has a plan.
Leader: We are shaped and molded like clay on a potter’s wheel. We have been slammed, smashed, rolled, and cut. We will eventually go through the fire.
Group: We are becoming. And God will be with us.
Leader: Sometimes it just hurts. Whatever doesn’t kill us will make us stronger.
Group: Whatever holds us down will be broken when we stand up and dance. Amen.

*HYMN 163 Lord of the Dance

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Anyone who says we need to grow up is already too old. We are young and alive. We deserve a break.School’s out for summer. No more lockers, or passwords. No more book bags that weigh as much as we do. We have studied. We have worked. We have stressed out to the point of illness. We did this so we can be prepared for the so-called real world. We are not yet old. We are not yet dead. We will celebrate having air in our lungs. And we will pray as Jesus taught us, saying:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
