THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Samuel R. Schaal
Liturgist: Through the power of the Spirit we were all baptized into one body –
People: Jews or Greeks, slaves or free,
Liturgist: The body does not consist of one member but of many.
People: If one member suffers, all suffer together with it;
Liturgist: If one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.
People: Baptized by the Spirit, we accept our welcome into the body of Christ
*HYMN 553 Gather Us In
*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
If the church is the body of Christ, then we admit that we have wounded Christ. We have added to his sufferings through division and dissension. If the church is the body of Christ, then we admit that we have failed to love those he loved. Yet we trust that with God all things are possible, and we boldly ask not only for forgiveness, but also for the power to put things right, to truly be the body of Christ in this place. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit One God and who taught us to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen, Amen.
