*HYMN 223 Spirit Divine, Attend Our Prayers

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever, and taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen, Amen.

THE INVITATION TO SUNDAY SCHOOL/GODLY PLAY Rev. Robert J. Brink

*THE PSALMODY (unison) Psalm 104b sung to St. Peter

Metrical setting by Michael Morgan

O LORD, how marvelous Your works; Your wisdom, without peer!
The richest blessings heav’n can boast You deign to show us here.

The sea is filled from shore to shore with creatures great and small;
The minnows teem the tide with whales; God’s care extends to all.

They wait for God to give them food, who dwell across the land;
And in the season of God’s grace they feed from God’s own hand.

The absence of the LORD gives rise to stubborn, faithless fears;
God’s Spirit, feeble life renews; God’s breath can dry our tears.

Your glory, LORD, always endures, Your mercy all our days;
O may I never cease to fill your courts with songs of praise!

THE PRAYER OF PEOPLE AND MINISTER

[The Minister will begin the prayer and will continue:]

Minister: Eternal God, holy Father and nurturing Mother, our origin, our destiny, depth of our being, breath of our life, as you ever delight in the worship and service of your children, be pleased to pour your Holy Spirit upon us.
People: As your Spirit came upon your prophets of old, grant us your Spirit of truth and understanding, that we may know your ways and walk in them.
Minister: As your Spirit came upon Christ at the Jordan, grant us your Spirit of power and consecration that we may enter into the ministry and victory of your Son.
People: As your Spirit came upon your church in Jerusalem, grant us your Spirit of grace and love, that our lives may more fully reflect your glory and that the world might believe, to the honor of your name. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
