Liturgist: God gives us stones so we can build.
People: We can build walls that divide or a temple that unites.
Liturgist: We are God’s stones—living stones—gathered into a holy priesthood.
People: Gathered in the temple with Christ as cornerstone.
ALL: We are gathered to build together.
*HYMN 550 All Are Welcome
*THE PRAYER OF INVOCATION and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Thou who has created everything out of nothing, you welcome us into covenanted community. Give us the grace to be architects of holiness amid your good creation, building temples of divinity in ourselves, our families, our congregation, our community and our world. For we are called to be your church and your people in the world, with willing hearts and working hands as we follow our Lord, Christ Jesus, who taught us to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen, Amen.
