CHIMES AND TOWER BELLS

WELCOME AND CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Steven A. Peay, Ph.D.

Minister: We come seeking the One who can guide us to springs of life.
People: We come thirsting for justice, for peace, for One who can give us relief.
Minister: We come restless, knowing there is only One in Whom we can rest,
People: “for our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee, O Lord.”
ALL: We come to worship the One God, the Source of Life and Blessing.

*HYMN 19 Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

O God, the fountain of life, to a humanity parched with thirst you offer the living water of grace which springs up from the rock, our Savior Jesus Christ. Grant your people the gift of your Spirit, that we may learn to profess our faith with courage and announce with joy the wonder of your love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*ASCRIPTION OF GLORY (Hymn 560) Be Thou, O God, Exalted High

Be Thou, O God, exalted high; And as Thy glory fills the sky,
So let it be on earth displayed, Till thou art here, as there, obeyed.
