Everlasting God and Lord of Light, we confess that we too often choose to be slaves of death and darkness. We confess that we depend too much on catching what we can in our nets of self-concern that leaves us living in the poverty of greed. Grant us hearts willing to turn around and follow our Master and Lord Christ Jesus, who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
