Liturgist: We are led by the Spirit of God and we are children of God.
People: We did not receive a spirit of slavery and fear, but we have been adopted into the very family of God.
Liturgist: We are children of God and if children, then heirs,
People: Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
ALL: If we suffer with him then we will also be glorified with him.

*CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Breath of God, inspire us to greater vision. Wind of God, invigorate us to be new wine for a thirsty world. Word of God, illuminate us so that we may become a new people in your eternal truth. God of power and peace, become in us a bold way so that we may become a bold people, in Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE NATION ON MEMORIAL DAY SUNDAY

Invitation to Prayer

Prayer of Thanksgiving (unison)

Almighty God, Author of humanity, we thank you for the heritage and privilege of our beloved country. Thank you for your wisdom which has led our land from its perilous beginnings through all the difficulties and dangers to this day of grace. Reverently we lift our prayer to you that your people may be delivered from every evil, turned from every error, and kept in the highway of a divine vocation; that your will may be done and your purpose fulfilled in the amplitude, power and prophecy of a nation called to you for a vast and holy errand in your world. Forgive us where we have failed to serve you or to live out the community and freedom to which we have been called. We ask you to hear us, good Lord. Amen.

Please respond “Amen” to each prayer
