CALL TO WORSHIP
Minister: We are here today not because we have found God, but because God has called us,
People: Challenging us to accept the cost of discipleship, to be servants of God, each other, and all humanity.
Minister: But the call is also of God’s promise,
People: A promise of God’s eternal love, of forgiveness for our weaknesses, of strength for the journey, and of eternal life.
*HYMN [insert] Gather Us In
*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Rev. Robert J. Brink
We thank you, O God, for the families that surround and support us. We have an earthly family into which we were born, and we have a spiritual family, the church, into which we are welcomed. Both are your creations. Through the power of your Spirit, unite us this morning into one body, one family. Reveal yourself today as the one who gathers us, who unites us, and who calls us forward to love and serve you. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray…
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PSALMODY Psalm 148 [sung to the tune of Regent Square]
Praise God in the highest heaven, Sun and moon and stars in space;
Sing, ye angels, of God’s goodness; Tell, ye ordered skies, God’s grace.
Alleluia, alleluia!Who but God your course can trace? All the earth will shout God’s praises,
Mountains peaks and ocean floor; Wind and fire and beast and forest,
Hill and desert, vale and shore.
Alleluia, alleluia!Honor God whom you adore. Rise, O child of God, in wonder
At creation’s majesty; Young and old, God’s glory claiming,
Praise the LORD in unity.
Alleluia, alleluia! Now and for eternity.

God, our shepherd, we have all strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed our desires instead of seeking yours. We have left undone what we ought to have done; and have done what we ought not to have done. Have mercy on us. Restore us according to your promise in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant for his sake that we may live godly, righteous lives to the glory of your holy name. Amen.Assurance of Forgiveness
