THE CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm
1 Rev. Robert J. Brink
Liturgist:
Happy are those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in
the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law they meditate day and night.
People: They are like trees
planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their
leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.
Liturgist:
The wicked are not so, but
are like the chaff that the wind drives away.
People: Therefore the wicked
will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the
righteous; for the LORD
watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Liturgist: We come to worship the God
who shows us the way of the righteous.
People:
We come to worship the
God who made heaven and earth, mind and heart.

*THE PRAYER INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Holy God, you challenge the powers that rule this world and show
favor to the oppressed. Instill in us a true sense of justice, that we may
discern the signs of your kingdom and strive for right to prevail for the sake
of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit and who taught us to call upon you saying:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory, forever.
Amen

I Have Longed
For Thy Saving Health
Psalm 69:174, 175
I have longed for
Thy saving health, O Lord;
Thy law is my delight, O Lord.
O let my soul live and it shall praise Thee,
and Thy judgments shall help me.
Worship
John Greenleaf Whittier
O brother man!
Fold to thy heart thy brother;
Where pity dwells, the peace of God is there;
To worship rightly is to love each other,
Each smile a hymn, each kindly deed a prayer.
Follow with
reverent steps the great example
Of Him whose holy work was "doing good."
So shall the wide earth seem our Father's temple,
Each loving life a psalm of gratitude.
Then shall all
shackles fall; the stormy clangor
Of wild war music over the earth shall cease;
Love shall treat out the baleful fire of anger,
And in its ashes plant the tree of peace!
