CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                             Rev. Robert J. Brink

One:          Highest of all creation, Christ lives among the least.

Many:       Christ dwells among us.

One:          Come now, all who thirst

Many:       and drink the water of life.

One:          Come now, all who hunger,

Many:       and be filled with good things.

One:          Come now, all who seek,

Many:       and be warmed by the power of love.

ALL:         Come and follow Christ, our King!

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Eternal God, you set your Son among us, the beloved one who was rejected,

the Savior who appeared defeated. Show us in his life and death the victory that
 crowns the ages, and in his broken body the love that unites heaven and earth.
 Empower us to be his church. This we pray, in the way he taught us:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not

into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

*THE PSALMODY                                Psalm 132                                       (Sung to Vienna)

            {Children ages 3 through 8th grade are dismissed to Sunday School

during the singing of the Psalm.}

Call to mind, O LORD, the pain;

  Hardships David did endure;

That Your dwelling place should be

  In his heart forever sure.

Come, O God, and dwell in me;

  Clothe my soul in righteousness;

May Your presence know my joy,

  May my pleasure be to bless.

You have promised worthy heirs

  Will inherit Zion’s throne;

Who with truth and justice rule,

  And confess You, LORD alone.

You, O LORD, all good extend;

  To my needs Your care provide;

So be in my life that I

  After death with You abide.

*HYMN                                           Rise, Shine, You People             (Sung to Christe Sanctorum)

Rise, shine, you people! Christ the Lord has entered

our human story; God in him is centered.

Christ comes to us, by death and sin surrounded,

with grace unbounded.

See how he sends the powers of evil reeling,

and brings us freedom, light and life and healing.

All men and women, who by guilt are driven,

now are forgiven.

Come, celebrate, your banners high unfurling,

your songs and prayers against the darkness hurling.

To all the world go out and tell the story

of Jesus’ glory.

Tell how the Father sent his Son to save us.

Tell of the Son, who life and freedom gave us.

Tell how the Spirit calls from every nation

God’s new creation.

Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All

Henry Collins 1854

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All,

Hear me, blest Savior, when I call;

Hear me, and from Your dwelling place,

Pour down the riches of Your grace.

Jesus, my Lord, I do adore,

O help me love You more and more.

Jesus, too late for You I've sought,

How can I love You as I ought?

And how to praise Your matchless fame,

The glorious beauty of Your name?

Jesus, my Lord I do adore,

O help me love You more and more.

Jesus, what did You find in me,

That You have dealt so lovingly?

How great the joy that You have brought,

So far exceeding hope or thought!

Jesus, of You shall be my song,

To You my heart and soul belong,

All that I have is Yours alone,

And You, blest Savior are my own.

Jesus, my Lord, I do adore,

O help me love You more and more.

Let All the World in Every Corner Sing

George Herbert

Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King.

The heavens are not too high, His praise may thither fly;

The earth is not too low, His praises there may grow.

Let all the world in every corner sing My God and King.

The Church with psalms must shout, No door can keep them out,

But above all the heart must bear the longest part.

Let all the world in every corner sing, My God and King.
