come together to be reminded that we are called to be one community
with
all creation.
People: We
do not come here to find relief from those who need us.
Liturgist: We
do not come here to exclude those who are different from us.
People: We
do not come here to find sanctuary from those who challenge us.
Liturgist: We
do not come here to protect ourselves from those who call us “enemy.”
People: We
come here to be strengthened to meet needs, to celebrate
difference,
to rise to challenges, and to love our enemies.
ALL: We
come here to remind ourselves we belong to God and to praise the God who loves
us. Alleluia!

AND LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Sovereign
God, you make us for each other, to live in loving community as friends,
parents and children, sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, wives and
husbands. Teach us to choose love that is committed and devoted; teach us like
little children to wonder and to trust, that our loving may reflect the image
of Christ, who taught us to call you Father, saying…
Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.

Be Thou My Vision
arr. Fernando Ortega
Be Thou my Vision O Lord of my heart:
Naught by all else to me save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Theee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true Son,
Thou in my dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven's joys, O bright Heav'n's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision; O Ruler of all.
Rise,
Crowned with Light
Alexander Pope, 1712
Rise, crowned with light, imperial Salem, rise!
Exalt thy towering head, and lift thine eyes;
See heaven its sparkling portals wide display
And break upon thee in a flood of day.
See a long race thy spacious courts adorn;
See future sons and daughters, yet unborn,
In crowding ranks on every side arise,
Demanding life, impatient for the skies.
See barbarous nations at thy gates attend,
Walk in the light, and in thy temple bend;
See thy bright altars thronged with prostrate kings,
While every land its joyful tribute brings.
The seas shall waste, the skies in smoke decay,
Rocks fall to dust, and mountains melt away;
But fixed this Word, this saving power remains;
Thy realms shall last, thine own
Messiah reigns. Amen.
