OF INVOCATION (unison)
God
and Father of all, you have willed that the last shall be first, and you have
made a little child the measure of your kingdom. Give us the wisdom which is
from above, so we may understand that, in your sight, the one who serves is the
greatest of all. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever, and ever and
who taught us to pray:
Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.

Grant
me, oh Lord, my fervent pray'r, as at Thy feet I bow.
With
wisdom, pow'r and heav'nly love, oh do my soul endow.
In
ev'ry trial then do appear, before my spread Thy light!
My hands and feet, my tongue, my heart, oh God, do
guide aright.
Dear
Lord and Father
Whittier
Dear
Lord and Father of mankind,
Forgive
our foolish ways;
Reclothe
us in our rightful mind;
In
purer lives, Thy service find,
In
deeper reverence, praise.
In
simple trust like theirs who heard,
Beside
the Syrian Sea,
The
gracious calling of the Lord,
Let
us, like them, without a word,
Rise
up and follow Thee.
Drop
Thy still dews of quietness,
Till
all our strivings cease;
Take
from our souls the strain and stress,
And
let our ordered lives confess
The
beauty of Thy peace.
Breathe
through the heats of our desire
Thy
coolness and Thy balm;
Let
sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak
through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still small voice of calm!
