People:     Lord, give us to eat of this bread always that we may forever live!

*HYMN 7                               Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ fed the hungry with the bread of his life and the Word of his kingdom. Renew your people with your heavenly grace, and in all our weakness sustain us by your true and living bread, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever; who taught us to say:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not

into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

THE CONFESSION (unison)

God of grace, you nurture us toward maturity of soul so that we might be one with Christ as incarnations of his teaching in this world. We confess that it is so much easier to remain spiritual children: irresponsible, changeable, and easily distracted. We confess that the world’s enticements seem so much less demanding than your call to speak the truth in love, to be patient with each other, and to love our enemies. Grant us the courage to remember our connection to you and to embrace our work as members of your Body. Amen.

THE WORDS OF ASSURANCE AND INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

Minister: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

[after: “who forever sing to the glory of your name:” all say:]

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your Glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
