AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Eternal
God and Father, your Son Jesus Christ, now exalted as Lord of all, pours out
his gifts on the church. Grant us that unity which your Spirit gives, keep us
in the bond of peace, and bring all creation to worship before your throne; for
you live and reign, one God, forever and ever we pray to you, saying:
Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.

ANTHEM There
Is A Balm In Gilead arr. Helvey
There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sinsick soul.
Sometimes I feel discouraged,
And think my work's in vain,
But then the Holy Spirit
Revives my soul again.
There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sinsick soul.
If you cannot preach like Peter,
If you cannot pray like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus,
And say, "He died for all."
There is a balm in Gilead
To make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the sinsick soul.

THE CALL TO PRAYER AND SILENT MEDITATION
THE PRAYER OF PEOPLE AND MINISTER
The Minister begins the prayer and then invites
the People to join in:
Minister: Blessed
are you Lord our God, creator and redeemer of all; to you be glory and praise
for ever.
People: You
father us from all eternity giving life to creation and pouring your love into
all you have made. May your Name be blessed for ever.
Minister: From
the beginning we have known you as ‘Father’, and all our families have their
origin in you. Blessed be God for ever.
People: Through the love of earthly fathers you give us
a glimpse of your everlasting love. Their guidance and wisdom reveal to us the
eternal life of heaven. Blessed be God for ever.
Minister: In
following their example we become more like you, growing into the people your
heart longs for us to be. Blessed be God for ever.
People: May
the love of our fathers draw us ever nearer to you and perfect in us the image
of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit
now and for ever.
ALL: Heavenly
Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph,
an earthly father. Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom,
tenderness and patience; support them in the work they have to do, protecting
those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation, through Jesus
Christ our rock and defender. Amen.

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.

Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father and I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
