THE CALL TO WORSHIP R.
Duane Coates, Intern
Minister: We want to be strong, but
still we are weak.
People: God
is at work in our weakness.
Minister: We
seek the light, but still there is darkness.
People: God
is at work in our darkness.
All: God’s
power is in the world’s weakness. God’s wisdom is foolishness to the world.
We gather in the shadow of the
cross to follow the Crucified One.
*HYMN 366 God
of Grace and God of Glory
*THE CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP
*THE PRAYER OF INVOCATION
AND LORD’S PRAYER (unison)
Redeemer
God, we gather in this place not because we are deserving of your love and not
because we have lived faithfully
before your face. We gather here because you have called us
here, to confront the shadows of
our lives and all life, and to see in the scandal of the cross your
wisdom and your life at work. We
gather here to follow Jesus, even to the cross, and we pray as
he taught us:
Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not
into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.
*THE RESPONSE Teach Me, O Lord, the Way of Thy

THE OFFERTORY
ANTHEM O
Worship the King Shaw
Robert Grant
1785-1838
O worship the King, all glorious above, And gratefully sing His
power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavillioned in
splendor and girded with praise!
O tell of His might, O sing of His grace, Whose robe is the light,
whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep
thunderclouds form, And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.
Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air,
it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, And sweetly
distils in the dew and the rain.
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust,
nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies, how tender, how firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender,
Redeemer, and Friend!
*THE RESPONSE We
Give Thee But Thine Own Hymn 535
We
give thee but thine own, whate’er the gift may be;
All that we have is thine alone,
a trust, O Lord, from thee. Amen
*THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND DEDICATION
*HYMN 358 Rock
of Ages
*THE CHARGE AND
BENEDICTION
*THE CHORAL RESPONSE
THE POSTLUDE The
Heavens Declare the Glory of God Marcello
*The congregation is
invited to stand, if able.
Today’s Chancel flowers are given in honor of
Martha Haagensen’s
92nd birthday, from her
family.
