*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Show us the way to fullness of life, Lord God; that our hearts might be filled with joy, hope and peace,
 we pray; that we might respond to opportunities, we pray; that we might be strengthened to face
 challenges, we pray; that we might become the persons we are called to be, we pray; that we might
 learn to respect our sisters and brothers, we pray; that we might see the needs of others and be as
 generous and loving as you are in giving help, we pray in the name of Jesus who taught us to say:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not

Lord, Make Us Worthy

Natalie Sleeth

Blessed by His coming,

Touched by His birth,

Graced by His glory,

Here on the earth,

Fed by His wisdom,

All who believe:

Lord, make us worthy such gifts to receive.

Spared by His mercy,

Healed by His skill,

Saved by His sorrow,

Bound by His will,

Raised by His power,

All who believe:

Lord, make us worthy such gifts to receive.

Sent by the Father,

Humbly He came;

Master and Savior

Him we proclaim.

All who have found Him

Now as before,

Offer Him honor and praise forevermore.

Led by His Spirit,

Claimed by His love,

Filled with His promise,

Word from above,

Called to His service,

All who believe:

Lord, make us worthy such blessings to receive.

Cherubim - Song (No. 7)

trans. Nathan Haskell Dole

Like a choir of holy angels solemn gathering through the air.

Bring we to our heavenly Father, life bestowing, thrice sacred song and prayer.

Far from our hearts on this blessed day do we drive each earthly care away.

Like a King of All shall we praise Thee, Thou Lord unseen, by angel hosts adored, Hallelujah!

Love Is of God

I James 4:7-11

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God. And he who loves is born of God and He knows God;

but he who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us; God sent His only Son to the world, so we might live through Him.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and He sent His Son to die for our sins.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God. If God so loved us, then we, too, should love;

for in loving one another, we know the love of God. Now let us love one another, for love is of God.

Dear Lord and Father

Whittier

Dear Lord and Father of mankind,

Forgive our foolish ways;

Reclothe us in our rightful mind;

In purer lives, Thy service find,

In deeper reverence, praise.

In simple trust like theirs who heard,

Beside the Syrian sea,

The gracious calling of the Lord,

Let us, like them, without a word,

Rise up and follow Thee.

Drop Thy still dews of quietness,

Till all our strivings cease;

Take from our souls the strain and stress,

And let our ordered lives confess

The beauty of Thy peace.

Breathe through the heats of our desire

Thy coolness and Thy balm;

Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;

Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,

O still small voice of calm!
