this sacrament we will receive power to be faithful in love, to

PRAYER (unison)
God of love and mercy,
we come before you with grateful hearts for sustaining us in the critical times
of our life. Terrorism, war, hatred and lack of trust surround us, but through
simple signs of bread broken and cup poured out we learn to love and trust
others. God help us that we may not be discouraged in our task of proclaiming
your love and word of life to our weary world. Above all, give us strength to
live our faith, even in difficult times. Send your Holy Spirit that we may be
faithful and steadfast in loving others as you are steadfast and faithful in
loving us. We come to the table your Son set for us and we remember your love
that he showed us, even as he taught us to prayÉ
Our Father who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

CHURCH OFFERS THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
[The
service is derived from the Prayer Book of KingÕs Chapel, Boston, MA]
The Invitation to the
Table and to Confession
The Prayer of Confession
(unison)
Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time
to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy
divine law. We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our
misdoings; the remembrance of which is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us,
have mercy upon us, most merciful Father. In the name of thy Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ, we beseech thee to forgive us all that is past; And grant that we may
ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, To thy honor and
glory, Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Minister shall then offer prayer.
The Ôcomfortable wordsÕ are then said.
Minister:
Lift up your
hearts.
People:
We lift
them up unto the Lord.
All shall stand.
Minister:
Let us give
thanks unto our Lord God.
People: It is meet
and right so to do.
Minister:
It is very meet,
right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all
places,
give thanks unto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, almighty everlasting God.
The Minister continues
the Preface and then all shall say together:
Therefore
with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven we laud and
magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee; and saying, Holy, holy, holy
Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O
Lord most, High. Amen.
The people are seated.
Then the Minister and
those who intend to receive communion shall say this prayer:
We
do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own
righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much
as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord whose
property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to
partake of this holy ordinance, that our minds may be impressed with gratitude
to thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in
us. Amen.
The Minister continues
the service and then all are communed.
When all have partaken of the sacrament the Minister offers
prayer.

Prayer of
St. Francis
St. Francis
of Assisi, (1181-1226)
Lord, make me
an instrument of your peace.
Where there
is hatred . . . let me bring love
Where there
is injury . . . help me to pardon
Where there
is doubt . . . let me bring faith
Where there
is despair . . .let me bring hope
Where there
is darknessÉlet me bring light
Where there
is sorrow . . .let me bring joy
O Lord,
Master Divine,
Grant that I
not so much seek to be consoled . . .as to console
To be
understood . . .as to understand,
to be loved.
For it is in
giving . . .that we receive,
and in
pardoning, that we are pardoned,
It is in
dying we are born to eternal life.
Peace Is
Our Prayer
Larry
Shackley
Lord, grant
us peace in this troubled day,
when hearts
are fearful and faith gives way.
Help us to
trust in Your firm control;
Peace is our
prayer, true peace our goal.
The hearts of
rulers are in Your hand
to turn and
guide at Your sure command. Lord, lead them into the paths of right,
and let the
nations see Your light.
Lord, please
grant to us peace in our time,
peace in our
world, in our hearts and our minds.
And, Lord, we
cast all our cares upon You
knowing Your
promise is true:
A day will
come when swords shall be laid down,
the Prince of
Peace shall wear the only crown.
All souls
oppressed will find release
when war and
hate forever and ever melt into peace.
Lord, grant
us peace.
Jesus
Shall Reign
Isaac Watts
1674-1748
Jesus shall
reign where'er the sun does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom
spread from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.
To Him shall
endless prayer be made, And endless praises crown His head;
His name like
sweet perfume shall rise with every morning sacrifice.
People and
realms of every tongue dwell on His love with sweetest song.
And infant
voices shall proclaim their early blessings on His name.
Blessings
abound wher'er he reigns; The prisoner leaps to loose his chains;
The weary
find eternal rest and all the sons of want are blest.
Let every
creature bring His grateful honors to our King;
Angels
descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud amen!
