CHORAL FANFARE

*HYMN 29

Now Thank We All Our God

*INVOCATION AND LORDÕS PRAYER (unison)

Eternal God, into the peace of your presence we bring our restless selves.

Refresh our faith, restore our confidence and lay your guiding hand on our lives so that our suffering souls might find restoration in the balm of Jesus Christ,

who taught us to pray, sayingÉ

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not

into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

God Is My Strong Salvation, Paul Gerhardt, 1656

God is my strong salvation, no enemy I fear;

He hears my supplication, Dispelling all my care:

if he, my head and master defend me from above,

What pain or what disaster, can part me from his love?

I fully am persuaded and joyfully declare,

I'm never left unaided, my Father hears my prayer;

His comforts never fail me, He stands at my right hand;

When tempests fierce assail me, they're calm at his command.

The ground of my profession is Jesus and his blood;

He giveth me possession of everlasting good.

To me his Spirit speaketh full many a precious word

of rest to him who seeketh, a refuge in the Lord

My merry heart is springing, it can no more be sad;

With laughter and with singing, in God's own sunshine glad;

For Christ is now preparing his city new and bright,

Where saints his throne are sharing and faith is turned to sight.

Thy Way, Not Mine, O Lord, Horatius Bonar, 1857

Thy way, not mine, O Lord,

However dark it be;

Lead me by Thine own hand;

Choose out the path for me;

Smoothe let it be or rough,

It will be still the best;

Winding or straight, it leads

Right onward to Thy rest.

I dare not choose my lot;

I would not if I might:

Choose Thou for me, my God,

So I shall walk aright.

Take Thou my cup, and it

With joy or sorrow fill,

To Thee may see, choose

Thou my good and ill.

Choose Thou for me my friends,

My sickness or my health;

Choose Thou my cares for me,

My poverty or wealth.

Not mine, not mine the choice

In things both great and small;

Be Thou my guide, my strength,

My wisdom, and my all.

Christ, Whose Glory Fills The Skies, Charles Wesley, 1740

Christ, Whose glory fills the skies,

Thou, the true, the only Light,

Sun of Righteousness, arise,

Triumph oÕer the shades of night;

Dayspring from on high be near;

Day-star, in my heart appear.

Dark and cheerless is the morn

Unaccompanied by Thee;

Joyless is the dayÕs return

Till Thy mercyÕs beams I see;

Till they inward light impart,

Glad my eyes, and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine,

Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;

Fill me, Radiancy divine,

Scatter all my unbelief;

More and more Thyself display,

Shining to the perfect day.

Hymn Of Praise, Mary Kay Beall

Awake, awake! Awake, my heart, for night is passing!

Awake, awake! Awake, my heart, awake and pray.

Awake, my heart, and come rejoicing.

The dove of dawn is on the wing to welcome in the day.

When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries,

May Jesus Christ be praised! Alike at work and prayer,

To Jesus I repair; May Jesus Christ be praised!

Awake, my heart the dove of dawn is flying;

On silent wings she rises with the sun;

Be still, my heart, and hear her sweet voice crying;

The song she sings is only just begun.

The night becomes as day, When from the heart we say,

May Jesus Christ be praised! The powers of Christ be praised!

Awake, awake! Awake, my heart, awake and sing!

Awake, my heart, awake and sing!

Be this, while life is mine, My canticle divine,

May Jesus Christ be praised! Be this th'eternal song

Through all the ages long, May Jesus Christ be praised!

May Jesus Christ be praised!
