CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                                  Julie Peay

Liturgist:  Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

People:    let us also lay aside every weight

Liturgist:  and the sin that clings so closely,

ALL:        and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our faith.

*HYMN 247                      Holy God, We Praise Thy Name

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND LORDÕS PRAYER (unison)

O God, in our worship today

We would join the long line of witnesses

To your faithfulness and love.

Help us learn from these to be faithful.

Through your searching Word and Spirit

Speak to us regarding those hindrances

That keep us from complete commitment.

Enable us to remove them from our lives.

Lift our eyes until we see Jesus

As he is Ð the author and finisher of our faith.

Open our hearts to receive him fully as Lord and Savior.

For it is in his name we gather and pray this prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen.
