*HYMN 29                                        Now Thank We All Our God

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION AND LORDŐS PRAYER (Unison)

O living God, as we turn to you, we turn from old habits and old patterns, casting them aside like an old coat thatŐs suddenly become too small. We turn from pride to seek a new humility, from greed to find compassion, from complaining to show forgiveness. Even as we worship this morning, transform our lives, clothe us in your love. In the name of Jesus, who gives us new life and who taught us to call upon you sayingÉ

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom,  and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen.

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORDŐS SUPPER

{adapted from the Worship Book of the Ecumenical Iona Community of Scotland}

               The Invitation to the Table and Confession

               The Prayer of Confession [unison]

Gracious God, our lives are full to overflowing with good gifts. Yet, we confess that even before we offer thanks for what we have, we are glancing around to judge the abundance in someone elseŐs life and yearning for more. We confess that we have yet to learn that your generosity is spread abroad for the good of all. Grant us the faith to trust that there is always enough and more than enough for allÉif we are only willing to care attentively for one another.  Amen.

The Assurance of Pardon

The Story

The Great Thanksgiving

               {after the minister concludes ŇÉon earth and in heaven:Ó we all say:}

 ALL:   Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and   earth are  full of your glory, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one  who comes in the name   of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Minister: Lord God, as we come to share the richness of your table, we cannot forget

                   the rawness of the earth. We cannot take bread and forget those who are

                   hungry. Your world is one world and we are stewards of its nourishment.

ALL:       Lord, put our prosperity at the service of the poor.

Minister: We cannot take wine and forget those who are thirsty. The ground and the

                   rootless, the earth and its weary people cry out for justice.

ALL:       Lord, put our fullness at the service of the empty.

Minister: We cannot hear your words of peace and forget the world at war or, if not

                   at war, then preparing for it.

ALL:       Show us quickly, Lord, how to turn weapons into welcome signs and

                   the lust for power into a desire for peace.

Minister: We cannot celebrate the feast of your family and forget our divisions.

                   We are one in spirit, but not in fact. History and hurt still dismember us.

ALL:       Lord, heal your church in every brokenness.

The Prayer of Consecration

The Communion

The Prayer following Communion [unison]

Lord God, you put the life of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, into our hands; now we put our lives into yours. Take us, renew and remake us. What we have been is past; what we shall be, through you, still awaits us. Lead us on. Take us with you and let us follow you with new minds and new hearts. Amen.
