CHORAL FANFARE

*HYMN 100                            O My Soul, Bless God the Father

*INVOCATION AND LORDÕS PRAYER (unison)

Today, O God, we are grateful for the faith that sustains us, for the hope that inspires us, for the light that guides us, for the love that comforts us, for the forgiveness that frees us. Above all, O God, we are grateful for your only Son who, by his life, death, and Resurrection, made faith, hope, light, love, and forgiveness a reality today and enabled us to pray to you asÉ

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

*HYMN                                               Amazing Grace

(Children 2nd grade and under are dismissed to Sunday School during the singing of the hymn.)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.

ÔTwas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

Through many danger, toils, and snares, I have already come;

ÔTis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

When weÕve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,

WeÕve no less days to sing GodÕs praise than when weÕd first begun.

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORDÕS SUPPER

            {Drawn from the worship book of the ecumenical Iona Community in Scotland.}

            The Invitation to Confession, the Prayer of Confession, and Assurance

                        All: Merciful God, you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you.

                        We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy. We have not loved

                        you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves.

We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with you, our God. Have mercy on us, O God, in your loving-kindness. In your great compassion, cleanse us from our sin. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Do not cast us from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and sustain us with your bountiful Spirit.

            The Invitation to Holy Communion

            The Story of the Last Supper

                        Minister: Let us prayÉ

All: Loving God, through your goodness we have this bread and cup to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. May we know your presence in the sharing of this bread, so that we may know your touch in all bread, in all matter. We celebrate the life that Jesus has shared among his community through the centuries and shares with us now. Made one in Christ and one with each other, we offer these gifts and with them ourselves, a single, holy, living sacrifice.

                        Amen.

            The Thanksgiving

                        Minister: The Lord be with you,

                        People: And also with you.

                        Minister: Lift up your hearts,

                        People: We lift them up to God.

                        Minister: Let us give thanks to God,

                        People: It is right to give both thanks and praise.

                        {after Òwe join in the song of your unending greatnessÓ we all say:}

All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

            The Prayer of Consecration

            The Communion

                        {during the communion we sing: Hymn 288 ÒLet us Break Bread Together.Ó}

The Prayer of Thanksgiving Following Communion

God will be there, watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.
