King James Version (KJV)

John 10:1-10

John 10:[1] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth upsome other way, the same is a thief and a robber.  [2] But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. [3] To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by  name, and leadeth them out. [4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.  [5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. [6] This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.  [7] Then said Jesus unto them again,Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.  [8] All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. [9] I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and  find pasture.  [10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and todestroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

1 Peter 2:20-25

1 Peter 2:[20] For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, whenye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.  [21] For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, thatye should follow his steps: [22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: [23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committedhimself to him that judgeth righteously:  [24] Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should liveunto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.  [25] For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of yoursouls.

Revised Standard Version (RSV)

John 10:1-10

John 10:[1] "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; [2] but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.   [3] To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his ownsheep by name and leads them out.  [4] When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they knowhis voice.  [5] A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." [6] This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.  [7] So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door ofthe sheep.  [8] All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them.  [9] I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.  [10] The thief  comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

1 Peter 2:20-25

1 Peter 2:[20] For what credit is it, if when you do wrong and are beaten for it you take it patiently? But if whenyou do right and suffer for it you take it patiently, you have God's approval.  [21] For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, thatyou should follow in his steps.  [22] He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips (2).  [23] When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he didnot threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly.  [24] He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.  [25] For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of yoursouls.

New International Version (NIV)

John 10:1-10

[1] "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. [2] The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.  [3] The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  [4] When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep followhim because they know his voice.  [5] But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."  [6] Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. [7] Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.  [8] All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did notlisten to them.  [9] I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved(1).  He will come in and go out, and find pasture.  [10] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may havelife, and have it to the full.

1 Peter 2:20-25

[20] But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this iscommendable before God.  [21] To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in hissteps.  [22] "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."(2)  [23] When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.  [24] He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;by his wounds you have been healed.  [25] For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd andOverseer of your souls.
